Itinerary
Your journey begins in the early morning from Delhi as our representative picks you up from your preferred location—be it your home, airport, or railway station. As you settle into a comfortable, private cab, the urban sprawl of Delhi fades away behind you and gives way to open fields, quiet towns, and finally the hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh. The drive from Delhi to Shimla is around 350 kilometers and takes approximately 8 to 9 hours, including rest stops for food and refreshment.
As you ascend into the hills, the winding roads, lush green valleys, and fresh pine-scented air begin to welcome you. You’ll notice the temperature begin to drop and the landscape turn more picturesque with every kilometer. By late afternoon or evening, you arrive in Shimla, the former summer capital of British India. Upon reaching your pre-booked hotel, you check in and are served a welcome drink, followed by some time to relax and freshen up.
Dinner is served at the hotel restaurant, after which you can take a leisurely stroll in the hotel premises or relax in your room, preparing for the adventures of the next day. The first night in Shimla is usually spent in peace and quiet, allowing your body to rest after a long but scenic drive.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, your day begins with a local sightseeing tour of Shimla and a short excursion to Kufri, located about 16 kilometers from the main town. Kufri, known for its adventure park and beautiful views, is a favorite among tourists throughout the year. In winter, this place turns into a white paradise with snow activities such as skiing and snowboarding. During summer, the meadows bloom with wildflowers and the weather remains pleasantly cool.
You first visit the Himalayan Nature Park in Kufri, which houses a variety of animals and birds native to the region. The surrounding area is ideal for short treks and horse rides. The views of snow-capped mountains from here are stunning and offer great photo opportunities. After spending a good amount of time in Kufri, you return to Shimla for a city tour.
In Shimla, your sightseeing includes the famous Jakhoo Temple located atop Jakhoo Hill, the highest point in Shimla. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is known for its massive statue and the panoramic view of the town it offers. You can reach the temple by a short hike or by taking a ropeway ride from the Ridge.
Post temple visit, you explore the colonial charm of Shimla with landmarks such as the Viceregal Lodge, which used to be the residence of the British Viceroy of India, and now serves as an academic institute. The tour also includes the Christ Church at the Ridge, one of the oldest churches in North India, and a walk through Lakkar Bazaar, known for its wooden handicrafts and woollens.
As the evening sets in, you spend some relaxed time on the Mall Road, sipping hot coffee, enjoying a plate of momos, or shopping for souvenirs. The cool breeze, the view of the town lit up with golden lights, and the musical echoes of the mountains create a perfect atmosphere. You return to your hotel for a delicious dinner and overnight stay in Shimla.
After breakfast, you check out from your hotel in Shimla and begin your journey to Manali, which is approximately 250 kilometers away and takes around 7 to 8 hours by road. The drive from Shimla to Manali is one of the most beautiful road trips in India. As you drive through the picturesque towns of Mandi, Sundernagar, and Kullu, the river Beas accompanies you through most of the journey. You pass through lush valleys, quaint villages, and pine forests that seem to stretch endlessly.
Midway, you stop for lunch and a short break at one of the riverside dhabas or cafés. As you enter Kullu Valley, you might want to stop at the Kullu Shawl Factory to see local artisans weaving beautiful hand-made woolen products. If time permits, you can also enjoy river rafting in the Beas River here, which is an optional activity and can be included based on your interest.
By late afternoon or early evening, you arrive in Manali and check in to your hotel. The ambiance of Manali is different from Shimla—quieter, more rustic, and surrounded by higher peaks. After check-in, you can relax in your room, enjoy the view of the mountains from your balcony, or take a short walk around the hotel. Dinner is served at the hotel, and you retire for the night with anticipation for the next day’s local explorations.
After breakfast, your full day is dedicated to exploring the local attractions in and around Manali town. You begin with a visit to the famous Hadimba Devi Temple, surrounded by cedar forests and built in 1553. The unique architecture of the temple and the surrounding natural beauty make it a popular attraction. From here, you move on to the Manu Temple, believed to be the only temple dedicated to the sage Manu, the author of the ancient Manusmriti.
Next, you visit the Vashisht Temple and Hot Springs. Located a short drive away, the village of Vashisht is known for its natural sulphur hot water baths, believed to have healing properties. The temple is dedicated to Sage Vashisht, and nearby bath areas are open to tourists who wish to take a warm dip in the mountain setting.
In the afternoon, you explore Tibetan Monasteries such as the Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa and the Himalayan Nyingmapa Gompa. The colorful walls, spinning prayer wheels, and peaceful chants provide an insight into Tibetan Buddhist culture. You may also visit the Van Vihar Park, located near the Mall Road. It’s a lovely forested area with a man-made lake where you can enjoy a paddle boat ride amidst towering deodars.
Your evening is reserved for exploring the Mall Road of Manali. It is a delightful stretch lined with shops, cafés, bakeries, and souvenir stores. You can try local delicacies like siddu, trout fish, or thukpa, sip on hot chocolate, or shop for woollen clothes, handmade jewelry, and local handicrafts. You return to your hotel by night, where a warm dinner awaits. This peaceful evening is your chance to breathe in the fresh mountain air and reflect on the cultural and natural beauty experienced during the day.
After an early breakfast, you set out for an excursion to Solang Valley, located about 14 kilometers from Manali. The drive is scenic and short, but the destination is full of excitement and adventure. Solang Valley is famous for its open meadows and snow-covered slopes, making it the ultimate destination for adventure activities and nature photography.
During summers, Solang Valley offers thrilling activities like paragliding, cable car rides, mountain biking, zorbing, and horse riding. The ropeway ride gives a bird’s eye view of the entire valley and the distant snow peaks. Paragliding is one of the most sought-after experiences here, offering an unforgettable ride over the valleys below. In winter, the entire valley is blanketed in snow, making it ideal for skiing, snowboarding, and snow scooter rides. You can rent warm clothing and gear on-site, making it accessible for tourists of all ages.
After a fun-filled day at Solang Valley, you return to Manali by late afternoon. If time permits, you can also explore the local villages near Solang or relax by the Beas River on your way back. In the evening, you enjoy your last dinner in Manali at your hotel. This night is your final chance to take in the beauty of the mountains, perhaps by sitting by the fireplace or enjoying some music in the hotel lounge.
After breakfast, you check out from the hotel in Manali and begin your return journey to Delhi. The drive is long but scenic, offering a final glimpse of the majestic mountains, rivers, and forests that have been your home for the past few days. With your cab comfortably cruising down the hills, you can relax, listen to music, or relive the wonderful memories captured in your photos.
As you descend into the plains and move through the states of Himachal, Punjab, and Haryana, the contrast of landscapes is striking. You reach Delhi by late night, marking the end of a beautiful journey. Our driver drops you at your desired location, be it the airport, railway station, or your home.
Though the trip ends here, the memories of the hills, the freshness of the mountain air, and the calm of the rivers will stay with you forever.
